Norovirus is most prevalent from December to February.
What is Norovirus?
It is known as the most severe gastroenteritis virus. In adults, if sudden vomiting, severe diarrhea, fever, and abdominal pain occur during the winter season, norovirus infection is strongly suspected.
It is highly contagious and cannot be eliminated by alcohol or soap.
Transmission occurs through multiple routes, including person-to-person contact, contaminated food, cooking utensils, and tableware.

Real-Time PCR Method Norovirus is such a powerful virus that even a tiny amount can cause infection. The real-time PCR method is a more precise test, often used for confirming that the virus has been completely eliminated after recovery and to certify a negative result. As the test is outsourced to an external laboratory, results take about 4–5 days.
