STD stands for Sexually Transmitted Disease, which refers to infections transmitted through sexual activity. Representative STDs include HIV, syphilis, chlamydia, gonorrhea, and hepatitis B.
At our clinic, we provide both same-day tests, which deliver results on the day of your visit, and advanced diagnostic tests, which can detect infections even in their early stages or when only a small number of pathogens are present.
The early symptoms of sexually transmitted infections are shown in the table below. If you notice any of these symptoms, please consult a physician or undergo testing.
| Name of STD | Early Symptoms |
|---|---|
| HIV (AIDS) | Fever, sore throat, fatigue, muscle aches, rash or itching, swollen lymph nodes in the neck or armpits, shortness of breath. May also be asymptomatic. |
| Syphilis | Hard sores or ulcers on infected areas such as the genitals, anus, or mouth; swollen lymph nodes around the groin. |
| Hepatitis B | Fatigue, loss of appetite lasting about one week, followed by nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and jaundice. Chronic hepatitis B may present without symptoms. |
| Gonorrhea | Men: 5% asymptomatic; painful urination, white discharge from the urethra, itching or discomfort in the urethra, swelling of the epididymis, mild fever or pain. Women: 80% asymptomatic; painful urination, irregular bleeding, lower abdominal pain, purulent vaginal discharge, increased discharge. |
| Chlamydia | Men: 50% asymptomatic; painful urination, white discharge from the urethra, itching or discomfort in the urethra, swelling or pain in the scrotum. Women: 80% asymptomatic; painful intercourse, irregular bleeding, lower abdominal pain, purulent vaginal discharge, increased discharge, fever. |
The time from exposure to the appearance of symptoms varies depending on the type of infection. Gonorrhea and chlamydia are among the most common and highly transmissible STDs. However, because these infections often cause few or no noticeable symptoms, they can be difficult to detect. Early testing and diagnosis are therefore essential.
Immediately after infection, there is a period during which diagnostic tests may not be able to detect the virus. This is known as the window period. It is important to carefully consider the timing of testing based on the potential exposure.
Testing can be performed during the “yellow” period; however, false-negative results may occur. For greater accuracy, we recommend retesting during the “red” period.
The following provides an overview of each test. We will guide you in selecting the most appropriate test based on your needs and circumstances. Please feel free to consult with the physician during your visit.

It is important that your partner also undergoes testing and treatment. If you have a partner who may be at risk, please inform them.
In particular, women infected with gonorrhea or chlamydia often have no noticeable symptoms. If left untreated, these infections can lead to serious complications such as infertility or ectopic pregnancy.
